What we collect
Carcaja is a private group chat for memes. To run it we keep:
- •
Your email address, to send you a one-time sign-in code and to recognise your account.
- •
Your name, if you set one. The members of your groups see it.
- •
What you post: memes (one picture each), captions, comments and emoji reactions, with the group they belong to.
- •
Your groups: the groups you own or belong to and your role in each.
- •
An approximate location, worked out from the network address you sign in from or from a location fix. It places you and your groups; it is not a precise position.
- •
Your acceptance of the terms and the version you accepted.
Pictures are re-encoded when you upload them, which drops the hidden metadata a camera adds, such as where it was taken.
How we use it
- •
To sign you in and keep your account.
- •
To show your groups, memes and comments to the members who belong there.
- •
To rank memes by their reactions and comments.
- •
To review reports of memes and comments and keep groups safe.
Memes that travel
A meme that does well can be copied to other groups, picture only, with no author and no origin group shown. Comments and reactions never travel. A group owner can switch this off for their group. Accepting the terms includes this consent.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and what you posted for as long as your account exists. Backups and logs are kept for up to [RETENTION PERIOD].
Delete your account
- 1
Write to [CONTACT ADDRESS] from the email address you sign in with.
- 2
Ask us to delete your account.
Deleting erases your profile, your posts, comments and reactions, and the groups you own, and ends every session. Signing in again later with the same address creates a fresh profile.
